Comedians

Dan O'Shea

Born in Birmingham in 1985 Dan then moved to Ireland where he lived in Naas. First attempted stand-up at the age of 19. If you see him you might laugh and you might not, the myriad of personalities present at your average gig makes it difficult to quantify any kind of success rate. Dan O'Shea is a favourite amongst crowds and comedians alike for the varying topics of his comedy, which he balances out with such an apathy that he is in fact not the person writing out this biography, he bullies other people into doing things like that by endlessly quoting Morrisey lyircs until they break down and type type type for him.

James Marsh

Having performed drunken comedy accidentally at parties for some time, James had grown tired of the phrase "you should

seriously do some comedy, dude" and so in an attempt to prove his drunken, phraseologicaly americanised friends right he took to the stage. Was a finalist in the CH4's 2007 So You Think You're Funny competition, is banned from the Nitelink bus service and is the "one phone call" for many people who wake up in a prison cell. The rest is a largely undocumented history.

Damon Blake

Born to an Irish family and growing up in Australia, Damon Blake unfortunately sounds American. His main interests are

drinking tea and sleeping, both of which are more fun the more people get involved. Went to the Edinburgh Fringe in 2007 with So You Think You're Funny and will be returning with the Best of New Irish this year with PBH's Free Fringe. Performs in many places that have him back, if only because he looks sophisticated leaning against the bar. If asked about comicbooks he can tell you so much your only response will be to stare and say "Come on man. Grow up." He can breathe underwater but is allergic to love.

Gary Fay

In his first year performing as a comedian he performed at the Kilkenny fringe festival, at the Edinburgh festival as a semi-finalist for the Channel 4 So You Think You're Funny competition and was voted Best Newcomer in the Capital Comedy Clubs end of year public poll in 2007. Born the middle child of a family of malcontents, he spent his childhood as a ballroom dancing alter-boy and has a degree in philosophy. With credentials like these it was inevitable that he would be either a comedian or a serial killer. So let's hope the comedy goes well.

George Fox

George Fox is one of the countrys brightest new talents. Since beginning his comedy career at the tender age of 18 he has become renowned for his unique surreal style and gifted storytelling ability. To date he has displayed his talent in comedy clubs such as The Laughter Lounge, The Comedy Cellar, Bewleys Comedy Club and every other major comedy venue in Ireland aswell as performing in the UK and even as far afield as New York. He also completed his third run of fringe shows at the Kilkenny festival this year. He was recently voted "Best New Comedian" in the Capital Comedy Club Awards and was also chosen to support american comedian Michael Winslow(Police Academy) for the Irish section of his world tour. He is currently working on his one man show "Waistcoats And Wasted Youth" with an Irish tour planned for later in the year.

Padraig Fox

Performing for three years on the circuit now, he fast talks his way around a number of topics, varying from growing up in

the middle of nowhere to TV shows that he had to sit through because his parents wouldn't splash out on BBC. He still has no idea what Magnus Magnusson actually did, apart from dying. With high energy performances and fast hitting material which has given him support slots for established acts such as Jason Byrne and Dave McSavage, he also has a huge reputation for dealing with hecklers through the power of words, and on one occasion actually made a heckler cry.

Graham Dowling

Graham Dowling burst onto the Irish comedy scene at a hundred words a minute and has yet to take a breath. A finalist in the Bulmers Comedy Competition 2007 and overall winner for the year in the Angelic Banana Comdy Club Smackdown, Graham Dowling is not only one to watch but also one we recommend you listen to very closely.

Bob Hennigan

Bob Hennigan is 75% hair and from Ballina, Co. Mayo. He is Resident MC of Basement Comedy Club in Galway City. He won the 2008 Father Ted Toilet Duck Award for New Comedy and recently has supported the likes of Stewart Francis, Andrew Maxwell and Dom Irrera. Among his recent achievements, he saved Wales' Best Elvis Impersonator from serious injury on the Aran Islands (this is true)!

Giles Brody

With his boyish good looks and sharp cerebral wit, Giles Brody has been delighting comedy punters with his self written bio since 2008. He has performed stand up the length and breadth of Galway City. He regularly plays at Basement Club Comedy and has supported such acts as Jason Byrne, David O'Doherty, Ron Vaudry and Robin Ince. Brody has played the Galway Comedy Festival since its inception. He is the co-founder of the NUI Galway Comedy Society and served as head writer for three years. Giles is a writer/performer with the sketch troupe "Sidekick of the Month Club".

Gearóid

Not only acts does Gearóid act in television sitcoms but he also gets up from where he's sitting for a bit of the old standup comedy. A refreshingly original comedian compared to most of the bitter hacks on this list, Gearóid displays a versality in the performing arts that is only matched by his inability to write a bio after multiple requests. Much like Madonna, Maradonna and Majorca, one word is all you need to recognise the legend that is Gearóid.

Kieran Lawless

Winner of the Bulmers 2007 Comedy Competition. Resident MC of the Neptune Comedy Club, the most popular underground comedy club in Dublin. He is from Mayo but has been to other places. To tell you anymore about this amazing comedian would ruin him telling it all himself. One to watch and definitely remember.

Barry Mack

Barry Mack was raised by wolves, not real ones, pantomime wolves. He would watch from the side as they scared young children, night after night. From this that he developed a taste for comedy and has been travelling throughout Ireland tracking buffalo flavoured Hunky dory’s for some time now. Noted as one to watch (mostly by farmers who fear he may make off with their livestock).
